Cthon always appears in the company of fell and loathsome beasts. It's form changes constantly, but regardless of the company, it is always the largest and most loathsome being present.
When Cthon speaks, it's voice changes from moment to moment, from a deep rumble to a high squeak. Cthon is an Elder god and as such, the very fabric of reality strains to contain it when it chooses to manifest itself. The sanity of all who have been in the presence of Cthon must be questioned.
