Skaal appears as a middle aged man, full of vigour, broad and tall. His hair is wind-driven, and his beard is salted with grey. His cloak whips wildly over his mail shirt; his sandals are studded with nails. In his left hand he bears a black cloud as a shield. From it he pulls lighting bolts which he hurls with his right hand.
His eyes are the grey of a leaden sky; his voice is a howl of winds.
